Please enjoy the following video presentation. This is the first video project that I have designed and developed. In terms of the topic, I chose to introduce a key note speaker covering critical thinking in the distance education setting.
Thank you Brett. As I was planning out the video I wondered how I was going to create a setting that would exude academic characteristics. The classroom seemed like a logical choice.
This was my first video production, so it took some experimenting to figure out how to do all of those cool things. Once I got started on the actual video I had an enjoyable time making it. It was the planning part that I like the least. As far as learning, I feel that I know a great deal about critical thinking in the online setting, but I also feel that I can incorporate critical thinking in my own classroom.
As a last comment, I was surprised that 77% of college professors were unsure about the meaning of critical thinking, or how to promote critical thinking skills.
I used Windows Movie Maker to compiled and edit the video footage. I used my iPhone to take the video. Once I had the video I used those clips and features in movie maker to make the finished product.
It was great sharing synchronously this video experience with you and Margaret on Wednesday night. We have definitely experienced some identical challenges such as the loss of critical content in order to meet the length and time constraints of the assignment. We also share a similar need to take this experience to other areas or topics as a significant mechanism to enrich our professional portfolio and performance.
On your video, I was a little skeptical in the beginning because you looked somewhat quite distanced from the camera in a deserted classroom. However, my attention was quickly captured by the content and engaged manner it is articulated. I especially liked the way in which you transitioned each frame and topic. Generally speaking, the video is very successful as a first. Best of luck in your future endeavors.
